ImPACT Concussion Testing

Concussions happen…

What safeguards do you have in place if it happens to you or your child?

ImPACT concussion testing is evidence based practice at it’s best.  Head injuries are on the rise for athletes at all levels of play.  An estimated 4 to 5 million concussions occur annually, with increases emerging among middle school athletes.  ImPACT concussion testing is a computerized concussion evaluation system that has the largest database of clinical research on concussion management.   ImPACT is one piece of the overall concussion evaluation and management process, as it gives healthcare providers a baseline measurement and a re-evaluation post-concussion.  The baseline measurement assesses the player’s memory, processing speed and reaction time.  After a concussion, the test re-assesses these parts as well as measuring the player’s progression or regression of symptoms.

Fit2Excel is home to Vermont’s only ImPACT Athletic Training Center. F2E brings computerized neurocognitive testing to the Burlington area. Athletes as young as ten years old and involved in a contact sport or activity will greatly benefit from this service. We have two of the three Impact Trained Athletic Trainers in Vermont.  ImPACT Neurocognitive Testing is used as a tool in the assessment of concussion recovery.

Our staff is qualified to assess your athlete for a concussion and counsel you through the entire recovery process, including when and how to return to academic and physical activity. We will work with your own physician, or recommend a doctor with expertise in this area if you prefer. We also have a Sport Psychology consultant who is specialized in working with athletes following an injury.  We also use Vestibular Ocular Motor Screening and balance testing as part of a comprehensive assessment after an injury.

Have your athlete take the most medically established neurocognitive baseline test in the world and have peace of mind in the assurance that should they get a concussion, they will have the best chance for a healthy and full recovery.

Currently serving athletes in Essex, Jericho, Richmond, Burlington, South Burlington, Westford and across Vermont.
