FAQs

What is a Certified Athletic Trainer?

A Certified Athletic Trainer, or ATC, is a rehab specialist trained specifically to evaluate and rehabilitate orthopedic injuries. Athletic Trainers dedicate their careers to helping athletes and active individuals achieve their performance goals. They are board certified and licensed in the state of Vermont. Athletic Trainers are not only skilled in the evaluation and treatment of injury but, are particularly competent in bridging the gap between injury and successful return to competitive athletics. Additionally, athletic trainers focus on the prevention of injury through the development of strength and conditioning programs that enable the athlete to be in top physical condition to avoid injury.

What level of fitness do I need to begin a class?

Fit2Excel classes are appropriate for all fitness levels! Instructors design exercises that can be accomplished regardless of your strength and endurance. By using multiple levels of intensity within each exercise, it allows beginners to accomplish each activity and advanced participants to continue to challenge themselves and improve their fitness level.

Where are workout classes located?

All indoor classes (and Essex outdoor classes) are located at 14 Corporate Drive in Essex. Summer camps, which run from late June to mid-August, are located at Mansfield High School and South Burlington High School by the track area. View schedule for details.

What age is appropriate for each class?

The regular classes offered at our Essex location are appropriate for adolescents through seniors. Youth strength and conditioning camps and athletic performance classes are offered for students starting in 4th grade. Please refer to the Youth Programs page for more information.

How do I register and pay?

Please register online through our Mind Body website which also allows payment at the time of registration. You may register also and pay at the time of your class. For membership options, including punch cards, please visit our Membership Section.

What do I need to bring to class?

Indoor classes require clean shoes and a water bottle. Outdoor classes will be held rain or shine. Please dress appropriately; layers on colder days, sun hats and sunscreen for hot days. Footwear can be either cross-training or running shoes. You may get dirty during outdoor classes so bring an extra towel for your car and perhaps a change of footwear.
