What is a Certified Athletic Trainer?
A Certified Athletic Trainer, or ATC, is a rehab specialist trained specifically to evaluate and rehabilitate orthopedic injuries. Athletic Trainers are board certified and licensed in the state of Vermont. They are particularly competent in bridging the gap between injury and successful return to competitive athletics, and focus on injury prevention through strength and conditioning programs.
What level of fitness do I need to begin a class?
Fit2Excel classes are appropriate for all fitness levels! Instructors design exercises that can be accomplished regardless of your strength and endurance. By using multiple levels of intensity within each exercise, it allows beginners to accomplish each activity and advanced participants to continue to challenge themselves.
Where are workout classes located?
All indoor classes (and Essex outdoor classes) are located at 14 Corporate Drive in Essex. Summer camps, which run from late June to mid-August, are located at Mansfield High School and South Burlington High School by the track area.
What age is appropriate for each class?
The regular classes offered at our Essex location are appropriate for adolescents through seniors. Youth strength and conditioning camps and athletic performance classes are offered for students starting in 4th grade. Please refer to the Youth Programs page for more information.
How do I register and pay?
Register online through our
MindBody website, which also allows payment at time of registration. You may also register and pay at the time of your class. For membership options including punch cards, visit our Membership section.
What do I need to bring to class?
Indoor classes require clean shoes and a water bottle. Outdoor classes are held rain or shine — dress in layers for colder days, sun hat and sunscreen for hot days. Cross-training or running shoes work great. You may get dirty during outdoor classes, so bring an extra towel and possibly a change of shoes.
