“Several months ago I began working with John Stawinski at F2E in the bootcamp classes. As a fifty-something year old teacher, my mid-winter slump was just settling in, and after reading about John and his wife Sheila’s F2E business in Essex Junction, VT, I was cautiously optimistic their “functional bootcamp” approach would help me become stronger, fitter, and energized. Indeed, my expectations have been surpassed. Last week I went on a ski vacation and was thrilled to discover that I was able to conquer runs I never could before!
John’s teaching style includes what we in education call “differentiated instruction”. That is, he customizes each session for each individual, and the atmosphere is one of camaraderie and support. Whether the push-ups are done on knees or toes, whether we do ten or fifty, each of us is applauded for our efforts, and we’re encouraged to try for more. And every class is designed differently so it’s fun to see what John has planned for us. In one class of eight, most of us didn’t know one another except for two spouses. We were divided into two teams, competing against one another. By the final side chin lifts(?) activity, each team worked as if we’d known each other always, racing to the combined goal of 300 (?) chin-ups. In the end, we were all happy, tired and we’d made new friends.
Another strength of John’s that puts him in a class above many instructors is his sports medicine education and experience. I can trust that he knows the mechanical and physical aspects of an exercising body, and I rest assured that I am safe in his care. (The older I get, the more aware I am of the consequences of overdoing it.) I highly recommend working with John, as he provides interesting workouts, just-right level of activities, rationale about what we’re doing, and encouragement. He’s also a really nice guy! And his WIFE!!!! Oh boy, let me tell you about his better half….” –KK
“I wanted to thank you for all the support you gave the team both physically and emotionally. How fortunate we were to have both of your expertise so greatly entwined into our program. I’m sure you heard that the boys had the 2nd best record in EHS’s history. You need to know that you were an integral part of that success!”- JG
“Hey John! I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for my daughter! She is “back in the swing” on her soccer team and is so happy! We are blessed to have the support you have given her, not the mention the extra hours, patience, kindness, compassion and understanding you have demonstrated. She has learned invaluable lessons this season and it’s not just about soccer.” –BF
“My two boys worked hard, are so VERY much stronger than when they started, but most importantly enjoyed themselves immensely. It was surprising to me that they never once complained about going (most especially because of the heat), which tells me they had fun to boot! You definitely had some hot days out there and my son Philip was running with some of his Xcountry teammates early each Mon & Wed mornings, so he had the double work out, but never missed a day until the last week of camp when we left for vacation. He credits his ease with the first week of preseason workouts/practice, totally to your camp!” –BN
“It has been so cool to watch you two work as one on this business and in that vein, I saw her truly as your “helpmeet” in taking over the classes so you could get rest, get better or work on other things for your business. She may do things a little differently than you but I think the classes were still great! Although I know it isn’t without its stresses, it’s nice that you have this opportunity to build this neat business together and do what you two love to do. I pray God continues to bless your efforts. I sure appreciate what it has done for me physically and mentally. It is exactly what I have needed to overcome the aches and pains I had.” –JC
“Hey John and Sheila, I wanted to send a note and give some encouragement to you both. What an awesome job you have done with the camps. They continue to be both challenging and mind opening as we push ourselves past what we thought were our limits.” –AP
“Just wanted to express my gratitude for everything your facility and staff has done for me over the past several months. You have been nothing but great, and an amazing resource for me throughout this experience. I especially appreciate you and Sheila doing so much to make me feel comfortable in boot camp yesterday and proving to me that I can still workout and stay fit. The program you made will be so beneficial.” –LN
